Treatment of Walking Pneumonia – Your Options
Walking pneumonia is a condition specifying milder side of
pneumonia . It is contagious and is easily transferred when patient interacts with others, coughs or sneezes. It is majorly found in children aging from 9-15 years, because they spend most of their time in groups at school or else. Initially, it is not a deadly sickness that requires hospitalization. However, in severe circumstances it causes many deaths as people are unable to identify the disease timely. Also, adequate
treatment for walking pneumonia is required to control from getting any worse. It is a disease which responds well to medication (except pneumonias caused by viruses or fungi) so, immediate measures should be taken as soon as the symptoms show up.
There are no major
treatment for walking pneumonia, but general steps can ensure it doesn’t get complicated.
Treatment of pneumonia can vary from person to person due to the extent to which an individual is suffering. Patients can be given antibiotics like aspirin (adults only), acetaminophen (Tylenol and other brands), or ibuprofen (Advil, Motrin, Rufen) for reducing the impact of bacteria. If some patient is required to be admitted in the hospital doctors would look to normalize temperature, respiration rate, heartbeat, blood pressure and mental function. Oxygenation may be required to help the patient in breathing or an individual may feel better by inhaling steam. At times vaccinations are also needed to prevent pneumonia.
Another
treatment for walking pneumonia could be the chest therapy which is done by using spirometer (instrument to measure air entering and leaving lungs) and tapping of chest to release the mucus and move it out of the lungs. The patient uses a spirometer at regular intervals which helps the patient to exercise the lungs and to determine its lung function. And apart from these
treatments for pneumonia some physical exercises and breathing exercises can also prevent/treat walking pneumonia.
